January Snow Storm Event
As Winter Storm Blair continues to impact the Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati regions, Vertex Property Group remains steadfast in our communities. The U.S. National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the area, effective until midnight EST Monday night, forecasting heavy mixed precipitation with total snow and sleet accumulations between 6 and 10 inches, and ice accumulations up to a tenth of an inch. Winds may gust as high as 35 mph, potentially leading to hazardous travel conditions and impacting the Monday morning and evening commutes.
Snow removal decisions in your community are made by applying your community rules and guidelines to the current situation. Here are some things to remember:
- Community-Specific Policies: Each community has unique snow removal policies outlined in their governing documents. These policies specify responsibilities for maintaining common areas and individual properties.
- Extreme Cold Temperatures: The very low freezing temperatures make snow removal efforts challenging. Crews will operate at a slower pace, working in shifts to ensure they can warm up and prevent cold-related health issues. You may observe crew members taking breaks in their trucks; this is a necessary precaution to ensure their well-being during extended exposure to harsh conditions.
- Mixed Precipitation: The storm is bringing substantial snowfall accompanied by periods of freezing rain and ice, particularly overnight into Monday morning. Ice is particularly difficult to manage and can complicate snow removal efforts. We are closely monitoring these conditions to adjust our snow removal strategies as needed.
- Obstacles Due to Parked Vehicles: High snow levels may pose challenges, especially with residents staying home and vehicles parked in driveways or parking pads. Crews cannot clear areas obstructed by parked cars so some areas may not be addressed initially due to obstacles and will need to be addressed later.
